TRUE MONSTER DOVII

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No. These dovii tend to be the chunky type, which I dislike. There are types that tend to be long... much smaller head hump.

Those are young males who are not fully developed. Or lesser males that never reach max potential. Dovii grow long then put on mass and bulk with age and good diets.

The pic i posted with the 6 dovii are wild the long dovii with no humps are not fully developed dovii.

Yup most cichlids do, most cichlids at a decade old look like a different species compared to young ones.

I go there 3-4 times a year and i havent seen these deformed dovii you speak of, and the female you posted is most likely really old there are females in that tank that look much better than that.

I recently went there a few weeks ago.

There are two, three, maybe four specimens that have some problems. I remember seeing two 8 inch males that have a mouth problem, look closely next time you go. I wish I took a photo of them. There was also a female dovii that had some strange spine, looked like blood parrot.

There might of been better looking females who knows, but the ones I've came across there were nothing special. Compare them to Gage's quality dovii.

Lunatic where are these Dovii u speak of?? Do some research because you must be talking about female Dovii. Every wild Dovii looks just like those ones in that zoo. As all 20 pics in this thread show:confused: Humps are all natural my friend!

Inbreeding will produce genetically wrong specimens just the same as it can produce genetically super specimens! Its all how the genes pair up. There have been cultures in humans that would inbreed just to have a super race. Example tall, strong, physically attractive and super intelligence etc. It gets very complex but its not just bad that happens with inbreeding.

ehh I have seen male dovii that had small nuchal humps even at 16+ inches

you are probably right tho maybe they never developed their humps because of the lack of tank size or low in dominance in the tanks
