When I say type, i dont mean it like a variety lol every specimen is different looks wise in some way.
Regardless of differences the largest dovii all have one thing in common large humps.

I had Gage's dovii and rapps dovii... rapps dovii get round and thick so fast and early compared to gage's. and looking at the video gage's male dovii is not very round nor does it have a huge hump
The difference between that dovii and Mel's is age. Mel's dovii is old and it looks it. That dovii doesn't look that old it's full grown but it doesn't show that age. Put in a larger tank give it 5 years I'm sure it'll look like Mel's

You do see that female... right? I've had Gage's dovii, they are very elongated I love it.
All female dovii I've seen have that look. I've never seen a female that even resembles the big males then again I've never seen a female hit 20+
