Why don't you get an overflow box, make a DIY sump and run one of the filter as return pump? you can make the bacteria bed as big as you want while running one filter with minimum media so the flow restriction is at minimum and you only have one intake and one return in the main tank. you only have to pay for one filter's operating cost and also add additional water volume to the overall system.
use the other two filters for other tanks or sell them, will probably have money left in your pocket to get you self few more rbps.
