The chances of it breeding with its own species is more likely then it breeding with any other species..... my point exactly.

Lol sure... I'm sure a male Midas is more inclined to breed with female Midas over a female Red Devil...

I can see them breeding with a species that is similar to theirs over one that is different but that doesn't mean they will ignore another species to breed with their own. They are gonna breed with the best suitable mate.

I'm guessing a stressed v. zonatus. Is it still a vieja or paratheraps? Its hard to keep up on the classification of CA cichlids...

It looks like an Argentea x Zonatum to me. I'd be suprized if it's pure. That's my guess anyway.

Well the most common form of color morphing Vieja/Paratheraps is the fenestratus. I'd say it's one of the fenestratus "pink" aka "Catemaco" that has retained some of it's original color.

Fene or fene mix was my guess when we were at the shop. It doesn't really show in the pic, but you could see the distinctive vertical and horizontal pattern in the colored area in person. But most thought fenes weren't as tall bodied as this was.

looks like zonatus to me but with vague other characteristics. Could be age but im seeing tetracanthus in there aswell
