i just set up a 15 gallon 24''X12''X12 tank with an aquaclear 20. i recently replaced the carbon and the biomax with my own concoction of used media from my other filter running on my 120 gallon.

anyways im new to keeping fish and even newer to breeding fish. however, i do have time and money to spend so, ill do w.e it takes. i need advice that will aid me through the breeding process. right now i have 4 convicts in the tank. i dont know how big convicts get so i cant really tell if their sexually mature or not. heres a few pics.

thats a nice lil set up man.. i dunno about the sand though. my cons layed right in the gravel.

its about 1/2-3/4'' of 3M S grade. do u think i should get pebbles to put on top of it?

i just never used sand for breeding but i'm sure they will do it anywhere anyway. and the cons never chose the slate that i thought they were going to use. they did it under a piece of driftwood in some regular pea gravel. after that, all i had to do was move the parents and the driftwood on the opposite side of a divider a then they'd lay again.

should i get a lil piece of drift wood? lol

I would like to ask u if u got the convicts from the same store? If so i would of bought them from different stores to lessen the chance that they are from the same General Fry pool..this will lessen the chance of abnormalities.
