just a few questions I would appreciate your time. I picked up 2 little Senegals today. Once I got home with them I realised one of them had no front fins. I'm hoping they will grow back.

What I'm wondering is what should I look for while it is possibly regrowing it's fins. both get along and pile on each other. he seems to be swimming fine and has already eaten. just want to be prepared in case.

Is the whole frint fins gone? If not it should grow back in time. Clean water makes fins grow back fast, try to get a picture for everyone to see and can give a better advice.
Clean water and if it’s esting well then should grow back.

ummm, it's hard for me to tell. this is the best picture I have gotten, sorry for the water spots on the tank, it makes it kinda hard to see, but there does seem to be a small red spot where they were, I can't tell if it's raised or not. I think he knows I'm watching him and likes to hang out in the back of the tank. thank you guys for the help!20180620_174615.jpg

so I am guessing then it may not grow back then? I will be going back to my lfs today to let him know, but I will be keeping him either way. he gets along with the other one so I don't think it happened on transport or acclimatio

went back to my lfs after work today to let the owner know about the Senegal, he offered to exchange it for another one and that he would keep an eye on that tank for aggressive behavior. I told him that I have grown to like him and wanted to keep him and I will keep an eye on him and that I had plenty of help here if needed and to not take it as me saying he is a poor fish keeper. he was surprised at my response and let me pick out another Senegal even though I wasn't exchanging. so I watched the tank for a bit for aggression and picked. I now have 3 Senegal and still keeping an eye on the one with no front fins.

here is the new one 20180621_184725.jpg

here is a better picture of no fins, I call him nugget. 20180621_171843.jpg

Oh man....poor little guy. Thats cool your lfs hooked you up. Wonder if that happened on the way home or at lfs? Polys can regerate a lot so hopefully they grow back. Also hope the culprit is still at the store not in your tank.

So what size tank, aqua scape, plans?

I noticed when I went back that one of the 2 bigger ones was being a bit aggressive towards the little guy, so I stayed away from him. right now they are in a 29 gallon tank. I threw a few rocks I had on hand to make some hides. i have a 55g tank on standby for when they get bigger and that is when I'll figure out a better scape. I've never done plants or any special scaping. just find something safe and cheap.

Cool. Polys like plants, but its more work. And even though they like plant the dig them up so its hard keeping the plants healthy. Youve got some time.
