trying to plan ahead

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
axies destroy plants too because they lay on them and they are pretty blind also and will just plow through them. I will eventually get some fake plants to make them a little more cozy. I thinks it's amusing though that the most active of the polys is nugget. he may have no front fins, but it doesn't stop him.

I picked up some frozen tilapia from the store since I read on here they like it. I put it through a blender and gave them a small pinch. Holy smokes! They tore it apart. I also got them a few fake plants and an air pump (I'm gonna have a sponge filter for the tank soon). Do they like a lot of current or not? If not I will get a gang valve and run it as low as possible. But I only have a 20g quiet flow on a 30g and was gonna use it the opposite end and put the intake as low as possible like I did for my axie while he was in it (they don't like much current)

Polys are good in alot of conditions mine play in the current from my power head in the tank. Just make sure if its crazy flow they have a place to rest.

OK, cool. Thanks for the info! They have a few small hides and some plants now. Just don't want to stress out nugget. He is still eating fine and swimming around, but don't want it to be too much for him.

Agreed. You have a nugget to watch out for. He's challanged so just see how he handles it. I think it'll be good.

I've been checking on them every so often since I put the pump on. It's only for 5-15 gallon so it's not crazy. They don't seem to notice it. May be different once I get the filter since it has an adjustable output direction instead of just bubbles floating up. Thanks again!

Good luck with him and good for you not giving up on the little guy

Thanks jaws! I check on them everytime I walk by the tank, I'm like a paranoid first time parent. Lol.

Random question can earthworms be frozen? Like for the tilapia I put in a blender, bagged it, and froze it. Could I add earthworms to it? (Just don't tell my wife I used the blender for them. Lol)

Lol I think the earthworms would end up being mush once they thaw

I ended up with a bichir with no fins from Petsmart I think it was. They gave him to me free of charge, calling him an "adoption" fish. I was so worried about him for the longest time. One year later, this is him:)
