TSN/RTC Hybrid (turkeydogs?)

yeah... massivore pellets are cheap, and you can get them at big pet stores... good luck with your feeding!

the CHEAPEST food you can give your cat is fish that you catch from a lake by you as someone stated...i do 3-4" sunfish for my 12-14" tsns they eat one a day or every two days and i also feed fillets and market shrimp as they are often found at the store buy one get one free...just watch for sodium benzite?(presurvitive) it can kill your fish...as for massivore, i don't feed it as it is $30 a bag by me and a bag wouldn't last long for my 3 cats, aro, gar, bullhead, and jd...as for squid my fish wont take it except my gar and jd but the cats taste it and reject it...wc fishes are full of vitimins so i see pellets as not needed if you feed wc feeders as i mentioned...just make sure you give it a good, right sized home with foods that have been metioned and as for hotdogs i have thrown a few in just to see if they would eat them and the hotdogs f'd my water up so bad that to me it is not worth it...not to mention the colors of your fish could not look as good as they could be...i know a guy that feeds hotdogs to an aro in a 55gal...not my idea of great care for a great fish and the colors and growth show that, but he is content so i can't take that from him, all i can do is say what i feed mine, show pics of mine colors, growth and space...and hope that he will "see the light"...i also offer to take the fish to help him out, but what else can we as keepers do right? and not insult others that haven't found out the "correct" ways to keep fish, just help them as they need it...i say "correct" cause we take fish from a huge river/lake to put them in a box of all sizes for our enjoyment so in a way we are all wrong but that is human nature

sbuse, that's a good way of getting big fish filled up for sure!!!

ya...and it is an exuse to go fishing and with my wife the saves money works every time...

lol

My ID's can't fit the salmon I catch in their mouths... I have to cut the salmon apart...

all my salmon and trout never mak it to the tank...the pan is always closer...that is also why i had to switch to raw shrimp and not use cooked...i never made it to the tank with enough shrimp for the fish...lol

Usually, you just get hazed if you're being a argumentative moron and asking for information, then decidedly ignoring good advice and then whinnying about it. But, it was good of you to ask, and there was no decent reason for you to get jumped on for doing some research and looking for some answers. It sounds like there are good answers in there if you're willing to dig through the crap to find them.
For me, one way to cut costs is by ordering food from JohnPTC. He sells different Hikari stuff for the lowest prices you'll ever find. He's a great guy. My next thing I'll be doing to starting a little worm farm in my backyard. My RTCxTSN loves and steals the worms I feed to my eels. The worms will get the veggie scraps, and I'll get free fertilizer and fish food.

well said. it upsets me that most posts turn into something other than what they were intended for.. oh well.
thanks for the advice. ill try worms, thats a easy meal for my rtc/tsn

I wouldn't really say massivore is cheap. It's around $50 for a 2lb bag.

Seriously, watch your local grocery store for sales on fresh shrimp (you can do cooked, but from my experiences, fish prefer raw), tilapia and whatever else.

My local grocery store had tilapia fillets on sale - buy one 7lb bag, get 14lb's free. So for $10 I got 21lb's of fish food. I can also get 3lb's of raw shrimp for around $8 when its on sale. I would also advise, finding one meat counter and sticking with it. Talk it up to the associates, and explain that you're buying the food for fish. They're not supposed to give you out of date products for human consumption, but I've had my meat guy slide me a few pounds every now and again that was a day or two old. Take it home and freeze it right away and your fish won't mind.

Make sure to cut it up into smaller pieces if your rtc is smaller. I fed my TSN with earth worms at first to get him to acknowledge it as food, but now he eats like a pig.

Good luck, and yeah, stay away from hot dogs and land animals. The fish don't have the same digestive track mammals do and can't digest the mammal fat properly.

it shouldn't upset you as this is the internet and most people will run their mouth knowing they will never have to back it as they will never see you...as for the worms i to will be doing the worm farm and i feed worms to my cats sometimes it is just that they can eat so many worms that unless you have a good sized established worm farm you could clean it out faster then they could reproduce...do a mix of stuff that was in my post aswell as others and you should be good...
