Here is another TUIC Trimac!! This guy belonged to a friend of mine. He was in a 600 + gallon tank in his den. He got to this size in under a year and a half. He was 3" when purchased from Jeff. Happen to have my camera in the car when I visited and took some pics. Fish was about 16" TL at the time of the pics. The crazy thing was how thick this guy really was, almost three inches accross the face. Real beast!!

Congrats on the spawning Rico!

Rico:

About three months after receiving a Trimac pair from Rapps, I finally put them together. They hit it off right away and I had eggs in two days. Just like yours about half turned white from the bacteria. I waited until they became wigglers and siphoned all I could to a 10 gal nursery tank (see attaced). I am feeding the fry baby brine shrimp and hikari first bites. twice a day. and cleaning and water changes once a day. I hope they make it, most of them at least. I don't know what I am going to do with them though.

The bad news is that the male and female trimac's tried to kill each other. I left some fry in the tank, but the male ate them and started acting like he wanted to breed again. I tried to keep an eye on them, but I found them lip locked in a cave about dead. I put the female down because she was in the worst shape and I had no place to put her.

I had read on this site not to keep pairs together or to seperate them with egg crate, but had also heard of pairs that got along fine.

Lesson learned, Trimac's are wet pets to be kept alone.

Good luck Rico, with your fry.
