I gave him his first fin level water change and took the opportunity to measure him accurately. Turns out he’s right around 12”.

As far as I know no captive bred senegal can be expected to hit a foot.
I would say you’re best off getting a wild caught at 12” but you’re in Australia so that’s a no.

Also I’m hoping this bad boy hits 24”.

I noticed an odd white patch on him today, looks like a scrape.

Nope, he is by himself in quarantine and the only things he could have hurt himself on are the sponge filters or the glass hoods.

Should heal on it’s own.

I take pictures but forget to post them.
I moved him out of quarantine on Sunday

From Monday

I moved a fish out to lower any potential aggression towards him but forgot to account for two other fish so he is covered in slightly discoloration from where they were trying to suck on him.
I’m moving fish around between the two 75’s trying to get the right balance and if I can put my other bichirs with him.

Hope your Turks on the mend!

Nice sun cats! I acquired one a while back and have recently appreciated it more!

I’m going to do my best to make his stay a peaceful one to help him heal up.

One of my sun catfish actually is missing his dorsal fin and his side fin. It doesn’t stop him from keeping up with the big boys though, he’s a little fighter. Actually if you look at the last picture at the sun catfish that is swimming diagonally you’ll see the missing dorsal fin. He was like this when I got him. Took me a while to notice the missing side fin for some reason.
