Great turtles . The two in the water are both painted turtles?

You have some great turtles:D Love the sliders and painteds;) However I wouldnt recomend housing a african sideneck with north american species. Sliders and painteds should be ok, but in the long term it would probably be better to make them either a bigger aquarium or to separate them, because sliders get bigger and stronger then most painteds and they can really bully them at food time. Its possible to house them together in the long term but in my experience the best combos are sliders with big cooters wille painteds, maps and chickens are great together

One is an Eastern paint, the other is your garden variety Red Ear Slider.
The Painted is a wild caught. I scooped off the road (Dummy was sitting right on the yellow line) on an unusually warm day in April 08.
I should have let him go but didn't. I am bad, I know.

I agree. However, The African and largest of the RES have been together since they were hatchlings. Ideally, African Sidenecks should be in much more shallow water than typical basking turtles.
I have a system for feeding them to insure the Sideneck gets her share. Your observations are correct.

Okay thanks. I used to see turtles by Wading river Long island but had no idea what they were they didnt let you get nearly as close as Florida turtles.

Amazing how turtles survive those frigid temps in NY .
