I actually HATE it and wish the owner would take better care of the turtle....

That is actually not owned by anyone. It is a wild Mary River Turtle (Elusor macrurus) Photographed in the Mary River, Queensland, Australia.

It is a short neck turtle, not a long-neck, not an FRT and not sick.

So this turtle has a breathing organ on it's bum? And Steve Irwin and his Father discovered another species that did the same (Elseya irwini) in 1990. Hah, Turtles breath from their buts. Hope they can't smell too.

Both turtles are capable of absorbing oxygen via the cloaca whilst underwater. The Mary River turtle can gain up to 50% of theire oxygen requirements this way, and the Fitzroy turtle and Irwin's turtle can get even more. This is a major factor as to the late discovery of these species.

I have two Mary River turtles, and they are awesome! Very calm and peaceful turtles.

Nothing wrong with a little algae on a turtle. It doesn't hurt them at all. It's very common in almost exclusively aquatic species like snappers
