I think your tank is already overstocked. I would get something bigger before you consider adding fish. The bioload from the turtles is already going to be high and effect the water chemistry.

That is a mississippi map turtle and a hybrid red eared slider x yellowbelly slider.

I think you're right. That turtle does look like a mix of Red Eared and Yellow Bellied Slider. But the result is an intergrade and not a hybrid since both species are just different subspecies of Trachemys scripta.

Their shells are lumpy looking and a bit discoloured. A UVB bulb of 5% or more will help this. Ordinary aquarium bulbs do not give off UVB or UVA, you need specialist reptile bulbs for this. If the bulb packaging doesn't mention UVB output, then it doesn't have it.

Aquarium bulbs give you nice tanks. But the turtles needed the UVB mentioned by others. Also, I wouldn't suggest they be tank mates for life because I've known some guy who had his map turtles torn up by sliders.

A 300 liter tank is a little less than 80 gallons of water. Your slider can get pretty large and both species require a lot of swimming room. The more space you can provide the better.

i have two medium size turtles ( about 6 or 7 inch shell) they are in a 65g tank. i wanted to keep it a fish tank with turtles in it so its pretty much full of water with large ornaments so they can sit out of the water.

today i came in and the severum had very turtle like marks on his side. so all of the fish are now out of the turtles tank. they are all big fish. i had tried clown knifefish thinking at their speed they would just dart off. erm how about no!!!

it is neither. The yellowish turtle you're looking at is a subspecies of Cooter. Only by looking at the top of the head can you decide which subspecies it is.
