Really? Id always heard it was the other way around generally. Turtle taking chunks out of, or in some cases flat out killing the fish.
In what way did the Oscar terrorize the turtle? Thick skin, shell and all, how could a fish hurt it?

It depends on the size. If the cichlid is big enough to be food it will be, but a large cichlid might not like it in the territory. This was a 13" Oscar and would bite me if I put my hand in the tank. The RES was about 8-10" long (shell). RES aren't aggressive to fish other than wanting to eat them. The Oscar didn't do any real damage to the RES but terrorized it. The stress on the turtle isn't good. The RES was afraid to get in the water and wasn't eating. I was also tired of doing water changes everyday so the RES went back to a LFS. If you are talking about real LARGE aggressive cichlids I would imagine they would be worse than an Oscar. I will never do that again.
