very nice turtles i really want one!! Glad you got sand could you do bare bottom with them? Even the greatest keepers on here have bare bottom tank just curious?!
well right now it is bare bottom until I find out if this proposed sand like mixture I have here will work. I need to take a few pics tonight and than I will post them up for debate
so here is the sand like cichlid mixture I was talking about let the debate begin will this work or is it too large and maybe be an issue to the shells?
give it a shot but do keep a close eye on your turtles. If it doesn't work then you can purchase a 50lbs bag of play sand at any lowes/ home depot for less than $5 and it works perfectly and is easy to clean.
Yeah man I know I have used play sand many time before. It's just a pint in the but to me. It is harder to clean, and it starts to break down turning to gray mud like substance after a few mouths. This stuff does not do that and is easier to clean does not get sucked up as much either because it's heavier so I was hoping it would work out? Does anyone else have an opinion on this regarding if it will work or not before I make my final decision?
Dude, I would just pick up some pool-filter sand. Cheap, pretty, heavy, doesn't degrade, and has already been tried and tested.
