So, I have a 20 gallon tall aquarium and I would like to get 1 turtle for it. I know that pretty much ANY turtle will eventually outgrow this tank (inch of shell 10 gallons rule). And I know that a LONG tank would be better. But what kind of turtle could live in this tank until I upgrade to a larger tank? It HAS to be something that I could EASILY find at stores. Also, What Size tank would a MALE Red Eared Slider need? (I know that males are smaller). THANKS FOR THE HELP:D

How long could it live in there?

What tank size will a FULLGROWN need?

And do they bask? I have heard that thet DON'T bask!

havnt seen mines bask or even attempt to. If your going for a Turtle tank I suggest you make a basking area and 2times the filtration for your tank

Or do they just bask a little bit? Iv'e heard ALOT of different things about them...

As i said Mines doesnt bask but its a Turtle so Basking is part of their life. The only true aquatic turtle is a FlyRiver Turtle. If your unsure just Fill your tank half way and have a Large Driftwood which sticks out of water so If needed your turtle can climb out n bask. I seen alot of wild turtles basking on logs and Fallen trees in lake for basking purpose so Give it a Natural look.
