Turtles PLEASE HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Also, what SPECIFIC species would be the best?

Ive only owned Musk and RedEar Sliders, I suggest Musk Turtle. Max out at about 5-6", Mine doesnt bother Fish in my tank so You could add some Community fish. Google Musk Turtles and see if you like them, theirs a fews species of Musk turtle. I have a Razor Back Musk Turtle

Do they swim alot or just like "walk" across the bottom?

Look into mud turtles; they are related to musk turtles and stay a little smaller (3-4"). You can keep a pair of adults in a 40 breeder.

The ones I got my cousin bask quite often, so I would offer them a basking area as well as a full spectrum light. Mud & musk turtles are not very good swimmers and tend to walk along the bottom most of the time instead of swimming.

I want something bigger... Could a Red Eared Slider (RES) be in there for a month then move to a 55 Gallon?

What size will it EVENTUALLY need? Also, I just have the 55 laying around lol:D

In that case, just start it in the 55 gallon; it will make your life much easier when it comes to keeping up the water quality. An adult male will need a 75 gallon at minimum while an adult female will need a 120 or 125 gallon at minimum.

So, I have a 20 gallon tall aquarium and I would like to get 1 turtle for it. I know that pretty much ANY turtle will eventually outgrow this tank (inch of shell 10 gallons rule). And I know that a LONG tank would be better. But what kind of turtle could live in this tank until I upgrade to a larger tank? It HAS to be something that I could EASILY find at stores. Also, What Size tank would a MALE Red Eared Slider need? (I know that males are smaller). THANKS FOR THE HELP:D[/i would go with a minimum of a 90 gal on the red ear slider and flordia soft shell is what i recomend]
