Two cinctas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Peanut thanks for the kind words... I'm definitely gonna get pikes again at some point. Since I'm moving with such short notice I'm going to be staying with a buddy or in an apartment for a short while before we get a house, so I'm looking at 2 moves in the near future and the more fish the tougher that is as we all know...

What part of NC are you moving to? I know one or 2 pike enthusiasts down here. :D Might even be able to find some tank space. ;)

Sorry about the temporary pikelessness, just keep the fishroom in mind when looking at houses.

No worries man, I've been pikeless for almost a year now. Really sucks, but gotta keep going...haha. Keep your head up! It will all work out for the better! Maybe you will be able to get some killer pikes where your at. Definately keep in touch through the whole process. I wish there was some way we could help you out so you didn't have to give up any of your fish. Let us know if there is anything we can do. I'm sure most of us would be willin to lend a hand in one way or another!

how do you get such an insane blackwater?
i love it !!! ive k1pt red eared sliders with my S/A and it was awesome but it was to much 11rk at the time to keep up with the load they carried. awesome fish!:headbang2

Hey fish speaker, I'm moving to the triangle area, still gotta find a place short term somewhere between durham and chapel hill. At least one of the pikes is spoken for at full price local pickup here and I have an offer on the second. If you want the other one and can meet me in the triangle either this coming Friday evening or the next I might be able to swing that.

robmcd, I really don't have the time or experience to ship a fish this big cross country right now, the last thing I would want is you and I both upset over a DOA because of my amateur shipping skills when I don't have the time and can offload these girls locally. It looks like Randy (CFB) will at least have some at a smaller size much easier to ship... maybe when I get settled I can get a group from him and hopefully wind up with a pair or two. Again, Rob I'm very sorry.

So is anyone interested in one of these girls for $100 local pickup in Alexandria, VA or possibly to meet somewhere along I-95 or I-85 south as far as RTP, NC? I'm taking offers for pickup only.

Daniel

Bryan Olsen, what is 11rk? For blackwater all you really need is some good decaying wood, preferably from a marshy area in Florida ;-)
I think it is the tannins that leach out causing the color, which is the same chemical (or family of chemicals) that make red wine red. So maybe just try pouring some wine in with the fish??!! j/k

Let me sleep on that, and look at my calendar. Fridays are usually impossible for me to get away early, but I'll see what I can do. Which one is sold/which one is still available? What kind of size? I am setting up a 125 and a 150 right now, and had been trying to decide which of my growing fish to upgrade...so this is very tempting...although I am tempted to try to grow out a group of small ones...

Like I said, let me sleep on it, and see what's possible.

Hey fish speaker, they are both basically identical, I don't know which is spoken for because the guy hasn't picked one up yet. The only real differene between the two is that one of them has a dark area in the middle of its lower lip that is kind of swollen. It has been this way since I got the fish and hasn't changed, not sure if it is from a fight or infection or what. The other one also has a darker area to the lower lip but it does not appear pronounced or swollen at all. I assume the guy picking up will choose the one that is less pronounced. Other than that the two fish have almost no distinguishable differences. Has anyone seen this on a pike before? It hasn't spread or changed so could it just be a developmental thing?

sorry for the type o's man i think i was under the influence or somthin...lol
thanks for the tips though, im gonna look around for some good driftwood , i wish i lived farther south just cuz here in the NW we dont have a whole lot of mashy areas and i really dont want to jeapordize the health of my fish by puttin just any reglar old wood in there... im definately gonna look into it .... such a nice steup man!!!!love the fish

I just picked these 2 girls up from Spilorhynchus yesterday! :headbang2

Man, they are monsters! You can't fully appreciate their size until you see 'em in person. One is 10", the other 10.5" (including tails).

They are really gentle giants so far. I have them in a 5 ft. long 120 gallon for now with 2 9" oscars. They have really settled in quick. Ate some pellets after only an hour, and gently take frozen silversides from my fingers. I was able to remove them from their transport bucket (and measure them) by cradling them with 2 hands; no thrashing at all. Suprisingly calm fish. I love em.

Thanks Spilorhynchus! I will take good care of your girls. :)
