i was wondering if i could add a fire eel or a tt eel to my tank that already has one fire eel but can u keep more than one i already have a striped peacock eel in the tank and im trying to find a good sized clown loach but can two fire eels get along?

I wouldn't.
From my experience, once they hit sexual maturity, and sometimes before, they will fight with fatal results.

Just go with one or the other, they both get huge.

i have 3 one is 17" the others r 7" and 5" and they get along fine.

i have 2 of them at over 20". very peaceful since the day they were in the tank from around 10"-12".

mine might be a pair. :D

I have three fire eels together. One is 26" and two that are over 20" (but haven't measured recently). They live in a 180 gallon, and get along well. All are hand fed and kinda just wait their turn for food. If the food drops though they will try to rip the food out of each others' mouths. There is a lot of homes around the tank, and they can get away from each other if they want. There is little to compete over, but I'm not sure how they will be as they reach sexual maturity. So far so good, though.

:WHOA:wow i can't wait intill mine get that big.

wow.. my first 2 fire eels did nothing but bicker, and eventually one killed the other. But I think he was also sick. so that may or may not have something to do with it. I bought 2 more in hopes of spreading out any aggression of the original one left. and So far it's worked. They've found a pecking order it seems and 2 of them will snuggle up during the day while the 3rd has a spot on the other side of the tank. since only the original slightly bigger one gets aggressive toward the loner and not both of the pair I'm assumeing. either the males are territorial or the females... not both. I do plan on seperateing the loner out eventually and trying to breed mine ;)

>.< still wanna see research done on their native breeding habits. or see documented breeding in captivity of these beautiful and sassy fish!

and wet whiskers norbert and your 2 babies are gorgeous! schmike Yours look as fat and sassy as mine! very nice!

once my fire eel hit 30-34 inches she has become nasty to any other bottom feeders.

Good to know. She is definitely one impressive fish.

Thank you. Best fish I've ever owned. I just adore them.
