anyone that has stuck w the hobby has surely made mistakes and lost fish. Dont feel bad, I had a payara get sucked eye first into the intake of a power head............twice. His eye eventually fell out. the one eye payara was a constant reminder of my mistake, until the other fish eventually took him out.

sorry for ur lost!! dont quit or else you will regret it!! just to INDO will not kill you.. get more and you will like it =). i have two indo myself and i keep an eye on them daily =).. hope you dont leave the hobby!!
dont give up. i lost a couple of my favorite fish, but that didnt stop me, it just made me go out and buy the same fish over again.
I had a similar thing... let me explain so maybe you can get an idea on how to avoid the next batch of baby indos...
In my sump I have a quiet1 that goes to my 300... I keep growouts in there and a RazorBack Musk. I added the turtle and about 10 min later, his shell got sucked into the pump... I got worried but was able to save him... So... I added the plastic bottom of a powerhead with a sponge in it to my pump so the sump works and my turtle has a home. I added Spotted Red Hooks and didnt think the stupid RHs would swin thru the sponge and get stuck in the pump.... they did and I lost 4 of 7 the same night (stupid fish)... so I added a pond net between the sponge and plastic powerhead-bottom so nothing but water and little pcs go thru the pump...
I guess the point to my story is try to add somekind of net to the part that goes in the tank (maybe an old fish net or pair of womens nylon)... should work with a rubberband for the next batch of indos
