Good Luck with them. Oscars are a great fish. Messy boogers though.

thats why i'm putting 2 wet/dry filters on there.

to ensure it can handle any bioload :).

love the tank and space when its not overcrowded! i bet those O's are livin it up in there!

they are, i'm still a little annoyed that its not done being decorated, but you cant rush these things.

THeres black sand in the tank, my first time doing a sand tank in about 1 year.
its only 2 bags so its a very thin layer.

Not that I don't like Clown Loaches. I do. We had some and they caused a massive Ich outbreak in the tank. Anyway, it's just that if one wants a pair to spawn, that pair should be left alone. I mean, wouldn't you feel the same way? ;)

I love over filteration. Especially so with Oscars.

I ordered the overflows today, so i'm guessing 5 -7 days till its here. Than they gota sit under the tree till x-mas along with my 2 wet/dry filters my dad made.

just gota go out and buy another pump. I'm gona keep one of the wet/drys planted with java moss and java fern to keep nitrates down.

should be a fun little project :)

Sounds great to me Matt.
And ya know, that's what was in that tank. Black sand. All of our tanks have black sand. It works out best for pleco's, and ghost knife fish, the pike, Eartheater, all bottom dwellers. Alot softer on them and easier for them to find and sift thru for food. I too alway have a very thin layer. I think it's easier too to vacuum and keeps the water cleaner.

Only my angels have gravel (unless they're a spawning pair and then it's bare bottom).
