How meany different types of Giraffe catfish are there? I wanted one so I did some research and found there are multiple types. Now I just need some help figuring out which type I want.

There’s a dwarf I know of if you want a small one.

There are in general fish in three genus that are called giraffe catfish. Two of the genus are called dwarf giraffe catfish but some of them are not dwarf at all reaching 1.5' - in the genus of Parauchenoglanis https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=47#2055

In the Notoglanidium genus, only macrostoma is well known in the hobby https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=300#102

Finaly the giants are in the Auchenoglanis genus https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/genus.php?genus_id=70#2561 But the problem is the two latest revisions are in stong opposition to each other, one recognizing 8 species, the other only 2.

So on the Auchenoglanis, IDK what to tell you. I currently keep 4 "types" of the Auchenoglanis in the hope of eventually starting to figure it out...
