For non dslr, the pics are quite good. Although I have never kept any, uaru's have always interested me . Your's are very nice.

Thank you very much! I always enjoy looking at your photo's. I have always been more about the fish than the pics but people like you, Modest_Man, japes and Nemesis etc.. are making me want to go DSLR more and more...

On the other hand I post less and less pics these days because I can't get good quality. :(

Beautiful pair!!!!!v Keep us informed if they end up with fry, good luck!!!!

They look great Justin!

They are not the most color fish but full of personalities. My pair really grew on me as well.

Thanks Peter! Under rated fish IMO but they have loads of personality like you said.

Looks good. What do you still have from the ones I saw after that disease wiped you out?

Thanks Jamie. I was able to save my OH colony, 4 juvie s. mapiritensis, 3 g. abalios, 3 severums, 2 uaru and my pike between the four tanks. Lost everything else. Oxolinic acid (spelling) is what won the battle but at a stupid high price... Spendy stuff but worth it. I'll start a thread on the rest of my tanks tonight so you can see what I've been up to. :)

They are a great cichlid. Very confident but not really aggressive for an SA. From the pics you can see they are not so much of a push over, but will stand their ground. They will eat ANYTHING including fake plants. I would never keep them with plecos, ever. Every piece of wood in that tank is covered in teeth marks. It's actually quite funny to watch them knaw on DW.

When I had my old uaru, I kept him/her with a 5-6" L-114, and there was no problems. I never saw mine trying to eat my fake plants. He/she loved lettuce.

So far, uarus are my favorite SA cichlid (unfortunately they are very difficult to transport when young). Mine had a wonderful personality, aways greeted me when I walked up to the tank, and mine would even eat from my hands.

Hey Eric! My comment was driven towards my experience, it was an epic pain trying to get food to my plecos because the Uaru would eat anything and play "steal the food from the pleco"... I eventually got rid of the pleco's because I got tired of feeding them in the middle of the night. :irked:

Unsure on age. The male was about 3" back in June 2009 when I got him, the female obviously older. Not a very fast grower IME.
