Water parameters after todays water change:
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate >5
ph 6.5
kh 2
gh 4
temp 86F

Ph is slowly dropping with the peat in place. I added another canister filter to the tank to hold all the peat. Used the whole box of fluval peat granules. I do want to note that I understand if interest in this thread falls off, I'm writing it for myself as much as everyone else. That being said, thank to everyone who has read, replied, and maybe learned something. I know I have.

I have what I believe is a pair but haven't vented them yet. Don't want to put them through the stress but really should.

I would be willing to vent them with the assured help of one of you experts. Anyone whos confident they can give me an answer, let me know and ill get the pics posted.

Keeep it up man I'm getting some Uaru.f and possibly some Urau.A this week. I have all the same concerns as you just my water isn't quite as hard

Quick update. I've been continuing doing 50% water changes every 3 days to keep nitrates in check. It's working well enough, but doing this many water changes keeps pulling all of the tannins out of the water, and my ph won't drop below 6.6-6.8 I think I'm going to try the blackwater tea method. Also one of the ferns had some white splotches on his skin. Maybe one of you guys can help I.d. it. I know the pictures aren't the best, but ferns are apparently camera shy.

The first group are doing well. They are grey most of the time instead of white though. I'm assuming the bright white you see in all of the pictures are breeding colors. Tank is nice and stable with ph sitting around 6.8 usually. Tannins aren't really lowering the ph as much as I want them to, but I'm happy with the stability. I pulled all of the amphs out this afternoon and put them in the community tank to make room for the new pandas. The new guys are dripping now.

I think the amphs would end up getting out competed and bullied when the ferns get beefy. It's good to see your confident to pick up more.
