I have a group of Altum acclimated to tap water. The key is the initial acclamation, once accomplished consistency is the most important aspect. Don't mess wit the chemistry. The best wat I've found to use almond leaves or peat is making a tea. I simmer about ten leaves in a big pot for an hour, let it cool and store it in the frig. At every water change of say 50% add the same percentage of tea to keep the same concentration. If you can successfully acclamate the fish to your tap water you will have a much easer time of it.
