I have heard that wilds are skittish, yes. I would say my F1s were the complete opposite of that. They were very friendly and greeted me at the front of the tank whenever I walked in a room. I was sitting right in front of the tank when I filmed this:

I kept them under standard fluorescent light fixtures. Some people have said that wilds need very dim lighting, driftwood, sand, etc. to be comfortable enough to do well. Most of the wild ferns I've seen on YouTube are in set-ups similar to that.
