Both species of Uaru eat sponges. There's not much you can do short of removing any sponges from the tank. They also chew on driftwood.

In my experience it doesn't hurt them, but you're going to find pieces of it floating everywhere when they crap it back out. I'm sure you're already learning how fun it is to vac a panda uaru tank. :ROFL:

I keep one of mine with little pike and other plecos together, they seems doing fine, I keep feed Uaru different food, the main thing is to make sure the water is clean, they will doing OK.
