Uaru info please help............

forgot to mention, since they can tend to be aggresive feeders, i find that feeding on each side of the tank gives the others a better chance of eating, and after a while the uaru will eat from one side of the tank and the other fish will eat from the other. Thats if you have a long tank of 6 feet or more. at least i have gotten mine to do it.... it tokk around 2 months to get them to do it, but now it works great.

They are great fish i have one at 10" with a 6" Dat no problems.

Thanks everyone I'll be gettin the Uaru's tomorrow. I appreciate all the help you guys gave me. I used to only keep cichlids, common ones like Oscars, Red Devils and Jack Dempsey's. Then I became obsessed with cats gettin every rare cat I could find. Now I sill love my cats but I want something I can see in my tank. I was gonna try combining a Leichartdi Arowana, Datnoids, Uaru's and Vieja Argentea. What do you think are they compatible. I've gotten conflicting views as to whether the Vieja's are aggressive or not. Just let me know what you think or if you have any suggestions for some nice interesting mid to upper level fish for my tank.

the Vieja Argentea is a very BAD ideal. it will murder your dats and uaru

i don' know much about the Leichartdi Arowana but a silver would work well if you have a VERY large tank.

Any suggestions for a beautiful peaceful cichlid companions then. I don't really like Severums and in the cichlid world I think peaceful=Geophagus,Discus,Uaru and Severums. I don't want any dwarf cichlids either. How bout somethin like a Frontosa.

Just got a pair of 2"ers, they were shy the first couple days but now they're hungry little monsters!
Eating Frozen Bloodworms and Xtream Marine Diet Mini pelets.(I know,I Know,"Marine?")
Anyways,very hardy.

the problem with using frontosa as tankmates in making sure the uaru's are properly acclimated to water condtions acceptable to the frontosas.
