Udon, Soba, and the Noodles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How long did they live with your LJs?

Udon video and pics tomorrow, and hopefully you can help me sex ?her?
For about 2-3 months they were in the 75g, then i bought the 180g and put my LJ in there and left my UJ in the 75g. My LJ grew faster in the bigger tank. When i got the 180g thats when i started buying WC. Then the 75g broke and i had to put the UJ in the 180g. The LJ started to eat them, first my two Gold dust then two sen after that a cb koliba, last one was one of my delhezi, all those got eaten by the LJ. So i sold the rest of my UJ.:(

Man... This is the thing about me getting more UJs right now with an upgrade plan in place. I don't think it makes sense. I think that my Del might work with LJs. ???? What do you think about that. She is more LJ shaped than any of the UJs, and being wild caught there is a potential she will grow bigger, right?

Unless the Moke grows at a similar rate to the Del and girths up I'm not sure he can live with LJs, so the 65 might need to be the permanent home for him. (I would like to use the 65 for growouts for the start, so hopefully Moke stays as mellow as he is now with other fish.) I guess we just wait and see. Or I get a CB LJ so that they come in really small. I really love this Moke and want to keep him.

What were the size differences in the bichirs that ate the UJs and the UJs themselves?

Ive seen alot if mixed UJ and LJ in one tank, most LJ stops being cannibal once they are adult, but cant be always right about it. Atleast you have a head start growing you UJ before introducing some LJ. I didnt have that cause i didnt think i was going to end up with WC species.

Udon pics and a video of her swimming around too.

I just LOVE this fish. Such a dinosaur dragon fish. I can't wait until she gets her full tail finnage back. Maybe I'm a weirdo but I think she's the coolest looking fish I've ever owned. LOL I mean, pretty colors are also fun to look at but what is it about these bichirs?

Measured her last night and she's 8 inches now. I include tails - not sure if you're supposed to, but was 6 inches when I got her in early Dec. I think that's about what I've read for growth on these guys, which tends to slow down between 8-10 inches, right?

I've seen the larger upper jaws like Weeksii, Ornates, and Teugs with LJs... but does anyone here have a Del with their LJs? Or any of the other smaller guys?

its funny because i never had many aggression issues between LJ and UJ it was usually UJ on UJ crimes..same for the LJ. In fact the little sen was the only fish that the dabola hung out with. Lol

OK, these are good things to hear. I guess we shall see how these guys grow out over the coming year or so and go from there. I wonder then if at that point say I want to get some LJs, if it would be better to get small CB ones as then there is more time for them to grow OR if getting larger WC ones would be better because then they're less likely to cannibalize. ?

magpie magpie how did the cb palmas palmas look at Wet spot?
