Udon, Soba, and the Noodles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I know, I've been a slacker in updating! I'll try to get some updated photos at feeding time tonight.

Ziti the Teug has taken to picking on Macaroni the Polli. It's not bad, they are just nips and it's not all the time. She doesn't chase her down or anything. But if Polli is there, Teug will nip. Polli has a few shreds in her tail and pec fins but no chunks taken out, so they really are just nips. Teug doesn't do this to the other two. I'm OK with it if it stays at this level and if Polli doesn't appear overly stressed. There are lots of places to get out of each others way and eyesight.

Hopefully when I upgrade, although again that will probably be in a year or so, it will just give everyone more room and it will fade out even more. At the very least they'll be out of each others way more easily. I hate this stupid 3 foot tank. I mean I love my tank but you know what I mean.

Outside of that everyone is doing well.

I have a video of Meatball eating a snail that's pretty cute - he whiffs a couple of times because it's between the DW and the glass, and he likes to grab them at a certain angle. He's doing great, not bothering a soul in the 20 long. The kuhli loach is also doing OK - I made him a little cave with small rocks and he seems happy in it. He can live out his final days comfortably at least.

Cute!

My polys also snap from time to time. Hope it gets better

I hope it gets better too, or at the least doesn't get worse. Right now it's totally different than when my Palmas was being aggressive to my Del. That fish was chomping, shaking, and not letting go. She pretty much bit off Udon's tail in a few days. I rehomed her.

Wow meatball rocks seriously cool fish. Im sure the aggression will slow down. Teug probably comfortable enough to start trying to establish some dominance

Pretty interactive can mean aggressive in a bad way unfortunately. I doubt you will have issues though, her sis I have is pretty laid back. Just doesn't like pics taken. Yours is much darker then mine. I'd guess they came from the same batch but who knows really! Meatball looks great!

Here he is eating live blackworms, which is also cute. ;)

You can see that he gives zero Fs about the cories.

Thoroughly enjoyed meatball slurping up that worm. His gang of Cory cats is cool too. Glad he leaves them be.

What happened to the kuhli loach?

The top of the page has some kuhli info. They were trying to make him dinner but he was big enough that I think they couldn't kill him in one shot. :(

They = the polys, including my docile rope fish. Once he was injured he was out in the main tank more often, which made him more vulnerable but also let me catch him! I wasn't sure he'd survive. If you look at the pics up there, he was all kinds of bit/scraped up, tail nearly gone, pec fins almost gone. :( If they weren't so hard to catch I would have tried to save them all - my first noodle-shaped fish!

(Post #849 is the one where I talk about it with the pic.)

That's sad. I remember seeing the pics of him looking rough. And I saw where you posted about it being in the filter:...... for some reason I thought that's why he was injured. No idea the polys weren't picking on him, but if he has injuries who knows. Hope he is okay. :/ if the polys ate the others, definitely would make sense.
