Udon's tail regrowth progression.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah, I'm not sure!

Maybe a seasoned poly owner can chime in.

Thanks for the comments and the compliment. :)
There's a whole other thread about the poly bio load issue... for most of us they seem to produce less mess than your average fish. Much lower than plecos, though I'm not sure if bristlenoses are that bad- usually when people badmouth plecos they're talking about commons for the most part since they get huge and dump out 4x their total body weight every 5 minutes (slight exaggeration... maybe)

Thats tough...the tank looks really nice i dont know if i would tear out those plants. Mayby add a couple more now with the tank as is. What size tank and what type of filtration ?

I'd keep the plants in there. If a poly such as the teug that is now at wetspot :-). I feel the delhezi will be out and about eventually. Especially if your near since it may expect a feeding.

I'd love a Teug eventually but right now it's only a 65 gallon with a 3-foot footprint, and upgrading is not happening for a full year. So I'd just get a smaller more active upper jaw for now. (Or two? That is what I'm not sure of... one or two)

I have an Eheim 2217 for filtration.

And I agree, I don't think my 2 plecos are huge poop machines, actually.

During my WC yesterday I pulled out a few more of the tall weedy vals - it just opens it up a bit more while still keeping the densely planted look. They reproduce like crazy!

Magpie any updates on the re-growth.

If memory serves me right didnt the del's pec fin get pretty torn up too ? Hows the re-growth on that ?

Oddly enough my palmas palmas went berserker last night and tore up the new weeksii smh...."your outta here pal"

The pelvic fin is what got totally shredded. You can see it in the video in the first post. It's back to looking normal now, though! The tail is getting there. I'll be curious how long it takes to be fully healed / full length. I'm assuming it will get there?

I'll try to get some pics today. I did take a video last night of feeding time, you can sort of see it here.

Bummer about your weeksii - is he doing OK?

My current mix is awesome - zero problems, everyone is comfortable with everyone else snuggling. My Del has a good mellow temperament, the Moke doesn't care, the ropes are just silly noodles. I wish I had gotten a pic of a couple days ago - the Del and a rope were in the same spot, and both looking out at me. The head size difference was cute. Funny because all of the bichirs just have no body space problems. They swim and try to snuggle with my para pleco who isn't nearly as psyched on it. ;)

Here's how I rescaped the tank a bit - more balanced now. I moved one of the swords over and ripped out a bunch of vals. (They'll grow back plenty.) I'm happy with it. The fish still have plenty of hidey holes but they are viewable.

The Wet Spot went from having the WC Pollis in holding for over a month to not having them on their list. So either they were totally sold out or they were having problems. :(

Still not sure if I should add one more LJ (to make 3) or leave things as is. (I did add a Mokelembembe since the last stock list.)

I've heard a lot of people say that ornates can be jerks. I'm a bit worried about that with the 3 foot footprint... input?
