magpie magpie you have any suggestion on nitrate absorbing low light plants i could just throw in the sump ? Floating plants would plants would probably be an issue for me in the tank because of the drains/overflow but should be fine in the sump.
Good question:)

Would the sump get any light?

Yes and no. No direct sunlight but would have a light mounted under theain tank...so yes lol

You know, I'm not sure. I know that people use pothos plants here in their tanks which are a houseplant. I have had them as a houseplant in a room with no natural light and it did just fine. I wonder if that would work. It would also be worth trying some water lettuce or pennywort, since they're not all that expensive.

I would send you some, but that would make it probably a weirdly strong offense if I got caught since it's through the mail, which is a federal service? I don't actually know.

But you could get pothos today at any plant store. You can take the clippings, leave off the dirt part, and just chuck them in the sump. Or you could research a bit more on this forum and how others use it.

Or there's the pennywort to try. I'm sure duckweed would thrive in any conditions but they are so small....
