Silva vs Maia...
I put a lot of the blame on the bookers for this fight.
It was well known going into the fight that Maia's only chance at a victory would be by using his jiu-jitsu. How well do you expect an Anderson Silva fight to go when his opponent's only real chance at winning is by being on the ground? Maia would not step up and fight. That is not Silva's fault. Silva does what he wants when he wants in a fight. He did what he had to do to win the first three rounds so it was impossible for Maia to win by decision. Once he accomplished that, the rest of the fight was up to Maia. Genius. People fail to realize how smart Silva is. We saw more out of Maia the final 2 minutes of the fight than we did the first 23, and that was only because Silva left him no choice.
I'm not saying he didn't go way too far with the clowning and mockery (he did, and I didn't like it one bit after the first three minutes of it), but people are acting like Silva owes them something... It was supposed to be a fight not the "Demian Maia Destruction Show." Silva gave Maia a chance, and Maia didn't take it until it was too late. Oh well.
He is the best fighter in the world, and I think he needs to be put up against fighters who are, at the very least, well rounded. That's when we'll see the real Anderson Silva.
