UFC 121 - Lesnar vs. Velasquez

Very true! For anyone to think Tito stands a chance with any of the top 10-20 guys in light heavy should have their head examined. I'm very interested in the heavy's now that they've figured out Brock this is going to be a good 2011 I think in that division.

It makes me laugh that you're comparing Nelson to Lesnar. Nelson should start with losing about 50 lbs of fat, then cut 10 to make 205 and fight around 210-215. He's a talented fighter (with great BJJ), but he's somewhat outclassed by HEAVYweights. A clean diet would help him a ton. He clearly has the cardio and drive to be dedicated, he just needs to apply it to dropping weight. It might take a few more losses for him to realize his lean body mass isn't the same as the rest of the big boys in the HW division.

And I assume the Mir/Nelson you're talking about is this one? like... 2003? Really? A grappling tourney? And I'm pretty sure Lesnar put Mir on his back before Nelson did.

And BJJ brown belt means NOTHING about take down defense. BJJ is a fighting style from the ground - top or bottom. Rarely are BJJ skill exhibited on the feet.
Jacobwhitley, you didn't respond to this.

ill just let you see when Nelson Beats Lesnar. Nelson ate punches by the hardest hitter in the UFC and didn't go down and yes he has more skill then Lesnar on the ground hes a BJJ black belt that really says it all he might be fat but hes got KO power and ground game and alot of it

Did you guys see how sad Dana was when he gave Cain the belt? ahahaha! That was funny. As for cain and jds, thats going to be a tough call. Both are great on their feet. But Cain might win by taking jds down and controlling the fight. Thats my opinion. About Carwin, i think Nelson has the tools to beat him. Nelson has a tough chin so he'll be able to take carwins punches and nelson can probably take carwin down.

They're fighting? Did I miss this?

I would argue that the hardest hitter is Shane Carwin. He also got KOed by Arlovski.

Maybe you missed the part where I agreed he has great skill. Maybe you missed the question - are you comparing a grappling tournament in 2003 (Nelson vs Mir) to Lesnar vs Mir? I don't understand how you can say Lesnar is cocky, but Nelson isn't? Really?

Are you suggesting that Nelson is the best in the HW division? If so, why is he not champ? If not, why isn't he? My assertion was that he should cut some weight, stop talking about "whoppers," and work hard to move down to 205.

As far as KO power, he has 2 KOs in his career, and a few TKOs for strikes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_nelson), so I guess it's KO power, but I wouldn't label him as a KO fighter.
Being fat isn't a good combination for a professional MMA fighter. You'll find that the vast majority of fighters that excel in their craft are ones that fight at their appropriate body weight. Fedor is the most notable exception. However, Fedor hasn't been (and won't be) anything important in the HW division.

I too, am a Fedor fan, but his involvement with the Russian mob (allegedly) has focused his career in a direction of irrelevance. Had he moved to fight real competition, he would be in a much better position to be the greatest fighter on the planet. His management has blocked any UFC contracts with ridiculous demands (they wanted a stadium to be built in Russia for Fedor).

His last 3 fights have been indicative of a fighter on the downslide (although still amazing). He was getting outboxed until Andre "Glassjaw" Arlovski found a way to lose. Rogers was beating on him pretty well until he got stopped. And getting tapped by Werdum isn't the way he thought his loss would come, was it? But getting tapped to a champion like Werdum isn't a bad thing, but you would expect more from the best in the world, right?

And please, whenever you take a breath, use a period. It makes things much easier to read.
