I think Carwin can come back and really do some damage with all the other hw's. He has incredible weapons but alot to work on. Brock just seems to believe his own hype a little to much and a weak chin is not something you can fix or train to make better. Congrats to Cain but I have a feeling he won't be holding the belt long.

I agree, Brock needs to work on his boxing or some other stand up fighting style and work on his chin.

Once he does that he will take it back from Cain. That is if Cain still has it...

my thought regarding the hw div in the ufc right now and up coming fights:

I think Roy will ko Shane. Roy may be fat, but he's got great footwork and the power to ko anybody. I think Shane is a less mobile and less technical striker and shorter also so it is a good matchup for Roy. If shane doesn't ko Roy in rd 1, he will be put to sleep

Cain vs Junior, dana already said that Junior will get the winner of Cain/Brock. I think Junior will truly be tested here. We will see if Cain can take Juniors punches and I am 99% sure Junior will end up on his back so we will see how good he is on the ground. my pick would be Cain via UD or tko. I think the chances of Junior ko'ing Cain or subbing him is slim. When I saw Cain eat Kongo's punches the way he did, I knew this guy will be hard to knock out

Kongo, the new guy that Kongo just beat, Carwin, Brock, Mir, loser of Cain/Junior,...... these names will give us some interesting matchups. I don't wanna see Brock vs Mir any time soon though

btw, UFC 121 was awesome to attend. I didn't get to meet anyone unfortunately, but while leaving the parking lot, we saw Kristoff Sozynski (ck sp) walk by. it was pure insanity when Cain's walk out music came on as well as when brock walked out. from start to finish the place was nuts. i can't even describe the energy. hearing the crowd on tv does it no justice. the pilars of the Honda Center shook when Cain got the take down and was popping back up after being taken down and when the ref stopped it it was pure madness

We haven't seen JDS against top quality HWs yet (aside from Nelson which was a decision). I'm anxious to see how he does against Cain, and then Carwin in the mix there as well.

he was and still is very important in the hw division. make no mistake about it
If he doesn't fight any of the pool of top heavyweights, how can he be relevant? Believe me, I want him to be relevant. I have TONS of Fedor fights in my archive, and I break them out every now to watch :)
Here was the perfect opportunity to fight Overeem, but that was put on hold (contract issues, yay!) Fedor's last fight on his current contract hasn't been decided, but we all know Werdum is taking an extended surgery/rehab, so he will be off the market for a while. They could fight in 2011, but we'll see.

So yeah, he's becoming irrelevant if he's not fighting top quality fighters. Brett Rogers, Andre Arlovski are not top quality. Werdum is amazing as a BJJ champion and it's no shame in tapping to him. I stated that before. I just realized that WErdum has a win over both Emelianenkos...that's pretty amazing.

How'd he do against Dos Santos? ;)

I don't understand this, what is a "normal" fight?

planning for the fight to go 5 rounds. You can tell he thought the fight would only last a minute or two. So within a minute he was completely out of energy and basicly helpless

AA and Rogers were both ranked at the time Fedor fought them. He was going to fight Josh Barnett, also ranked, before he came to SF.

I wish he'd leave M-1 also, and he is partly to blame for what M-1 has done. I agree to a certain point that he needs to fight better comp, but you can't really say he hasn't recently. Since coming to SF, the comp is better.

I don't blame Dana for Fedor not being in the UFC though. Still, Fedor is relevant and never was irrelevant.

I don't think he didn't plan on going 5 rounds. I think he underestimated Cain and maybe overestimated himself a bit. But he didn't gas. He had no time to gas. He was being outworked and was taking clean shots. That's what happened,.......

I don't think Brock is that fast. He's athletic, but I don't get why people say he moves like a light heavyweight. He doesn't, he moves great for a big guy and he is explosive, but not fast. I dont' think his striking will improve much. His punches are slow and you can see them coming. He's too big of a guy to be able to improve his stand up. If he ever rematches Cain, he needs to come in with a better game plan and take his time more. Avoid slugging it out and punch to setup takedowns.

edit: btw, I read that Shane Carwin pulled out of the fight with Roy Nelson due to back injury. sux, i was looking forward to it
