UFC 124 - GSP vs. Koscheck

Svang55 - Fitch deserves a title shot NO DOUBT. He has a better UFC record than anyone other than the Spider (maybe Maynard, but he is just horrible). Sure he has a lot of decisions, but at least he stays active. Compare his activity level to Maynard. GSP/Fitch 1 was a classic fight...just incredible.

Fitch gets screwed b/c Dana hates AKA and their refusal to fight each other. Remember when he fired Fitch for a couple of days over the video game?

Vitor demolished Franklin and Linland before that, but I am not sure he has the tools for Spider. Remember his early UFC fights with Wand Silva? He just isn't that guy any longer. After Sonnen, it seems pretty obvious that Spider's weakness is his wrestling. I have never known Vitor as much of a wrestler.

As for the Danzig vs Delay KOs, Danzig's was a bigger surprise, but Smith's face plant was a thing of beauty.

Depends on how you interpret the word athlete. GSP is crazy dominant and stands alone in the octagon. Gretzky was a red line suck who would sneak in behind defenders and sit on the red line waiting for break away opportunities. He had a knack for playmaking, but he had some great team mates who never rec'd due recognition.

Basically if a canadian didn't watch the GSP fight this weekend, they were considered non-canadians, lol. I think Gretzky would be chosen over GSP simply because a lot of canadians have a big problem with MMA.

But who would win in a potato sack race?

Fitch fights are almost always snoozefests. Very talented guy, but very boring to me. I don't mind some decisions, but I think most all of his fights go to decision with a couple of subs here and there. It just shows he doesn't like to take chances.

And while quite a few GSP fights go to decision, it just feels more dominating and exciting. I dunno, just very boring watching Fitch.

And I don't think anyone can categorically say that GSP is NOT the best athlete to ever come out of Canada. He is squeaky clean, shows national pride, humble, honorable, and a great example of what I wish more professional athletes are like. HE MAKES ME WISH I WAS CANADIAN, EH? Ok, not really, but all the stuff before that is true.

Dana doesn't hate AKA. If he did, why did Kos and Cain get a title shot? Fitch gets screwed because of what Clay said above ^.

Vitor did not deserve a title shot but like I said, it's all about what sells. He redebut at a catch weight of 195 and got the 185 title shot. How in the hell you gonna get a title shot when you didn't even fight at that weight div yet??? Either way, don't bring up Lindland, it will not favor your argument. I'm not saying you were making one, but just saying,..........

I didn't say that Condit necessarily deserved the shot, but that I think that he could beat GSP.

Here's how I look at it. Shields has virtually no shot. Does anyone really disagree? So, I think that they should give the winner of Lytle/Condit the shot. Now, does Fitch deserve it more? Yep, but the combination of his boringness, mixed with the fact that most people don't really think he would beat GSP, just that he deserves to try again, makes me want to go a different direction.
For me the question is, who has the best shot at beating him, not who deserves to get beat by him the most.
I think there is a better chance that Condit, or even a guy like Lytle could beat him, than Fitch or Shields. Not to mention, I think Condit and Lytle both would be a more entertaining fight to see, than Shields, or Fitch2.

condit, shields, fitch

between these 3? I say shields has the best chance at beating gsp. relentless take down attempts, it's been over 10 years since his first and only tko loss when he barely had like 4-5 fights, he ate a huge right hand from Dan Henderson and ended up molesting Dan to a UD. I think shields has the ability to turn this into a grappling match and jake has a good ground game whether on top or bottom. Shields has the better jiu jitsu than gsp also. i don't know, that's my pick. i think fitch would beat condit. so yea, i disagree. shields, fitch then condit in that order of who i think has the best chances of beating gsp

i think fitch is the #2 ww in the world. it just sux he's boring and no one wants to see him rematch gsp

So you think Shields would beat Fitch?

that's a close one, i do not want to see that fight since i think both guys are kind of boring

i'd give fitch the edge in a fight with shields. again, i think fitch is the best ww in the world aside from gsp, but based on style matchup, strengths and weaknesses, I think shields has a better chance at beating gsp.

it's funny in some cases that fighter A can beat fighter B, but can't beat fighter C who can't beat fighter B

I just dont see Shields beating GSP or Fitch. His stand-up game is very below average for someone is his position.

I guess I just go back to who has the best shot at upsetting GSP, and I don't think guys like Fitch or Shields can get it done, and I think thats been proven. I think it will take a different type of guy to do it, and thats why I'm more for sending Condit(Lytle) out there instead.

yea i guess i can see what you're saying

but heavy handed guys like condit and lytle aren't the guys to do it either. they got that matt serra haymaker chance, but that's about it.

kos, condit, lytle, alves,......... they all got a punchers chance of landing a big one but less likely.
