UFC 128 - Jones vs. Shogun

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just read the posts above mine.
....Unstoppable....champ for a while....untouchable....can't train for his style

Its like 2009 all over again. Everyone said the same thing about The Dragon. Now he is one a 2 or 3 fight losing streak (official vs truth).

it was a sad day for me

i felt the same way when diaz beat gomi

what shocked me is that within a minute or so shogun looked gassed already, that's when i knew he was in trouble so i'm surprized it lasted 3 rds. he looked horrible, like in the forrest fight and the coleman fight. he looked completely different compared to his fight with chuck and the two machida fights

i know he took a beating, but a lot of it was because he was so tired. idk, i believed in him again after seeing him go five rounds with machida at a high pace, but gassing after being taken down once was just horrible.

i rooted for shogun, thought he'd show up more prepared, but not taking anything from jones, i also said i wouldn't be surprized if he beat shogun, so good for him, and glad to see him and rashad will fight. it's gonna be interesting

^ i heard about that but never looked into it

he beat shogun like shogun stold something from him though

he was on sportscenter this morning talking about it. him and his trainer saw a guy breaking into a car while he was at a park trying to meditate before the match....guy took off, he chased him, leg swept him to take him down and then didn't know what to do once he had him on the ground. hahaha

One thing I haven't seen anyone mention is how Shogun is coming off of surgery again. Every time he does he looks horrible (Griffin fight). Do I think Jones beat the best, NO. But he could if Shogun was coming off a win with no surgery in between fights it may have had a different out come.

yea, i give jon all the credit in the world, he can do it even if shogun was 100% healthy and had no surgery (although i'd still root for shogun) but i agree that shogun's cardio was lacking in this fight

i had to go and watch some old shogun fights and man, it's a completely different person. i think rashad would have taken the belt from shogun last saturday. i think forrest would beat him again looking like that

sounds like some of you are "prisoners of the moment" with all of these "unstoppable" and "untouchable" comments.

anyone who follows mma and has any ounce of logic will not truly believe that anyone is unstoppable

i think someone to beat jones would need to be a fast fighter with a strong wrestling background. whoever outwrestles jones is the guy that can beat him. keep him guessing and not let him get his rhythm going on his feet. always cautious of the take down, so he doesn't always commit on his striking

it could be rashad, but we'll see. i got jones by tko though in that fight but wouldnt' be surprized if rashad beats him. rashad can do the above but he tends to gas as it takes a lot out of you to be able to do that

Someone did bring up the surgery in the other thread.
