anyone who follows mma and has any ounce of logic will not truly believe that anyone is unstoppable
except GSP (and Ubereem) :D

Shogun had no game plan and nothing in the tank after 90 seconds. GAME OVER
he actually had a pretty good game plan, but didn't come into the fight in good enough shape to capitalize on Jones' mistakes nor did he take advantage when Jones got tired. Maybe you can blame his lack of cardio on his knee injury/surgery, IDK.

I think Bones will be around for a while. Here's hoping Spider would go up in weight and fight Bones if he gets past GSP. That would be an awesome fight.

Jones has been an exciting fighter since day 1, but the hype machine is a little much. I wish he would have struggled with Shogun. It would have been so much better for the entire division. His hype machine was turbo charged, now it is nuclear.

His chin has NEVER been tested. This was his FIRST fight against a top 10 opponent (Bader was only top 10 to D.White and his puppets). Yes it was a spectacular showing, but its a little early to call him the great MMA messiah. I hate A. Silva, but respected his coming back from 23 minutes of domination from Sonnen. That is why Fedor and Wand are loved. They fought epic, legendary wars!

Who remembers the Machida era? How long did that last? His messiah status was pushed down our throats and it all fell apart the minute his chin was tested. This is the exact same thing, but even worse. Jones is younger, well-spoken, and American so this will be milked for all it is worth.

Look, I agree that he is getting a lot of pub, but the guy is the youngest champion ever now. He walked into a title fight, and just pounded a guy considered to be one of the best.
Now, we all know Shogun is "past his prime", but he was holding the belt at the begining of that fight, and Jones made it look like Shogun had never fought before.

I don't think Jones is unbeatable, or any one for that matter (the guys here know that, Bisping & Condit ftw :)), but you can't discount what he did just because people have been saying he's going to be great.

I think Shogun's cardio has been in question since he came to the UFC.
He still has had success, but I don't think conditioning played any role in this fight at all.
Jones was just too much for Shogun, tired or not.

whether shogun would've still lost, i can't say, he may very well still lost, maybe not

but one thing is for sure, he would've put up a better fight. a lot of the strikes he ate because he was too tired to defend. the conditioning definitely played a role in the fight

I can live with the going to be great part....but a lot MMA writers and forums (mmajunkie, sherdog, etc) act like he is already the greatest fighter of all time.

I appreciate his talent and give he complete props. He won the belt in stunning fashion against the consensus #1 LHW in the world. My whole issue is the fanboy predictions about him going on a 56-0 run. People said the same stuff about The Dragon in 2009....how did that end up?

I like Jones, but am rational about it. He isn't Fedor or Wand from their Pride days. No reasonable person would say he was. He may very well become that good and proven, but he isn't there yet...by a longshot.

....And this age thing....didn't Vitor win the UFC 12 tournament when he was under 21? No it isn't the same as the title structure now, but he was a champion at a younger age.

Being unable to implement your game plan or having one that didn't work as expected is not that same as having no game plan.

Being pummeled in the face has been known to have a detrimental impact on your gas tank.
