Been thinking about taking the UGF out because it will take the tubes out so the fish dont hit them anymore and it will make cleaning easier. What do you guys think?

I know there are old timers here that swear by them but lose them now bud...they are semi effective when used under perfect conditions. They are dinosaurs man throw them out

ive always used them but ive noticed that they can cause the tank to get cloudy and clear then back to cloudy. I think next weekend that will be my project.

They're ancient!! I had one for a while and it was just a pain to use and it's gone now, never getting another either. :grinno:

I am from the old school as some members have put it. And in their time, they were okay as long as the bio-loads were not too heavy or let go for 2-3 weeks at a time. In my experience, yes, they are antiquated and useless for anything but lfs making money on unsuspecting and unknowledgable customers.

If you have one and it seems to be giving you problems, I would not think twice of replacing it. Upgrade to something you're comfortable with and know will not cause undo maintenance issues. I did and have never been happier with the results.

I hope this helps with your descission making. Keep us posted.

well i have to emp 400 running on a 75 but i think the UGF is causing my cloudy water problems, because all other tanks arent running UGF and they are all crystal clear
