ugliest non-hybrid cichlid

parrots are hybrids.
i was joking about discus because of how off-track the thread got.

I don't like oscars because they're so common and people go on and on about how smart they are, but in truth, they're no more intelligent than other big cichlids, they just are more common, so there are more people to spread that myth. That being said, I don't think they're ugly.
When it comes to looks, I don't care for the face of a parrot cichlid, so I guess I'd go with them, but there are less common cichlids out there that are probably uglier - less colorful.

LOL... I was gonna say the same thing dude, but decided I'd leave it be, given there is a species of cichlid commonly known as a parrot, that is not a hybrid... quite a nice looking fish, imo. Hoplarchus psittacus, or the "true" parrot Cichlid. Not a bad looking fish...
Oh, and for me, it's a lot of the SA geos and satanoperca... Sorry Justin. They just don't appeal to me and they always seem to have a dumb look on their face. Some of them have great colors though.
