Ugly acrylic monster bracing questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thought I would dig this one up for one more update.

The trickle seems to be pretty well cycled so the the fish and turtles swapped homes. The koi seem to appreciate the added room. I picked up a Laguna powerjet 5000 off ebay for cheap and am using it for the return now. Its rated for around 1700gph and around 1200 with the head its pushing. Since I had enough flex hose left I just ran another 1.5" bulkhead for the return. It really moves some water. I am glad I went with the larger 1.5" drains rather than 1", they are near capacity keeping up. I also added a 700gph pump in the tank I kick on during the day to give the fish some extra exercise. The netting is over the drains for now because the fish were getting sucked through into the sump.

Budget breakdown, tank-50, weldon-12, trim-15, bulkheads/flexhose-15, rocks-8,
light-9, laguna pump 35, barrel/media(netting, monoline, bioballs, floorpads - from pond)-free Powerheads and HOBs I already had too. Total= about $135.

The turtles are doing well in their new home. They are still the students favorite.

I think Ohm's law is the VIR triangle.

Yup, its Ohms law, The circle is just a variation I use. We are doing combination series/parallel with Kirchoff's laws now. I think I am one of the only middle schools around teaching it.
