can you get pics in bruce, i love gators. Pity they cant tollerate our winters or i'd have on in the pond. I can get a 12" at the mo but i know it wouldn't last a year in the 180

That's massive, surely no one has a tank big enough for that, first arapaimas in this thread now alligator gars, these fish should not be in the country!

I think a few people can handle gators, you could probably get away with keeping them outside most of the year and the bring them in to a pond around 3000 gal in a garage or whatever just as long as the temperature is above the 8 degrees c mark

Hes currently in a 72x40x15 tank, was licing with large fish before i believe.

I coulsnt agree more with that, these fish should be banned from the country!

10' in the wild but thats rare and generally 5' in captivity

They will get 10ft+ in the wild quite easily and they will deff get 5-6ft in a tank but i wouldnt bank on them not getting to 10ft

To an extent, i should hope that i may one day be able to keep one but they should be banned from the general pet trade and available by special request paperwork etc, that should be enough to deter those unable to house one.
