Looks like a prolapse to me. Not nice, but not necessarially fatal. I had a convict with a prolapse that lived for around 3 years afterwards.

hello all....just thought i would pop on while i was near a comp.
u will all b pleased to no its done nowt but tip down here...only about 5 mins ago did the sun come out.
i caught a grunt after 3 hours of sitting by my todd in the rain....then thats been it since.
erm.....ellie can swim iv just learnt...looks like all those practice hours in the bath did indeed help out.
went to walmart and saw them selling pacu and the sign sayin they grew to 10"....then just saw a 17" one in a 30g tank in a pet store....evil place that was.
right well im just off to test my new bait and see if it finally works. duno what the time is there but its half 1 here so i reckon it may be about half 6ish.

aaaannnnnyyyyway....see u all soon.\sort out a south coast meet asap for when i get back please.

So, went to Swallow Aquatics today, Jasons tracking device registered what i was doing and he rang shortly after i arrived! It's a good shop, not as many monsters on display as there were at St Albans but due to lack of staff they couldn't spare time to take us out back to show us the pit! Of course i went completely back on my 'i'm not buying any fish today' comment and picked myself up a Brachyplatystoma Juruense when they brought it round from out back to show me! Found myself a good supply of suitably sized stock tubs for after i've moved there too.

Which swallow aquatics was it that has the huge underfloor tank? i see there are several including one in south east london which i'll be fairly close at some point in the next few days...

The weather here has been pretty nice, thank you for taking the rain with you! Walmart aren't lying I expect, just not telling the whole truth, I imagine that most walmart pacu are probably dead from their own waste when reaching 10" in a 2 foot aquarium. Hence 90%+ of the time a walmart pacu does only reach 10"
