Picked up some manzanita from the LFS today and started playing with basic hard scape.

This is more or less the style I will be shooting for

They're just hanging on the center braces for now with a lot sticking over. I will rig up some way to physically mount them to the center braces though so nothing is sticking above the water line. Still scratching my head on how to accomplish that.

zip ties......lol

Does that wood float? If not, then you could cut the end off horizontal at the angle desired; then use stainless screws to attach the wood to some thick plexi that wont warp. Make pieces of plexi that fit into the plastic trim around the top of the tank, maybe 6 or 8 inches wide. This way you could pull them out if necessary; like trying to catch a fish.

I used mortar to attach my wood to the bottom sealed it with epoxy. The piece on the far left is attached to my fake styrofoam rock wall I made.

This what it looks like after the substrate was added. I attached another piece on top of the bunch of wood that's in the middle since it was already anchored to the bottom
set it so it protruded out of the water. I also attached another piece on the right to my filter tubes with a ziptie so it hang upside down from the surface.

Here I attached some plants to the wood
