The cichla could well be Cichla nigromaculata.

Those look a little different, they dont have the spots with the spangles, and they are darker all around. Right now, I am stuck on hybrid of inter/pinima, or inter/orino.

i say inter/orino and looks like the orino trait is going to dominate over the inter's marking

thanks for the overwhelming interest in these fish. I would like to get a survey. This shipment, I'm out about $5200.00 usd, that includes, shipping, broker chargers, fish and wildlife inspection. It doesn't include the 5 hours I spent at the airport, 4 hours that night acclimating the fish, and opening the boxes.

So far, I've made less than 2000 dollars back, have a few aimaras left, lost a few of them, have a few black wolves, lost a couple. Have some snooks left. Out of the 15 peacock bass that was a special collection for me, only 8 are alive. You tell me how much I should sell them for or not sell them at all.

I'm tempted to have them go and try to catch more, but I don't see it as being financialy feasible. And the next time they go fishing they may not be catching the same fish anymore.

We've seen it time and time again, next shipment, I could hope for intermedia and come back with all regular orinos.

i vote keep this batch for "the good of the hobby" and next shipment do a pre-order. i dont wana sound like a debbie downer but im a diehard ichthyologist just without the funds for school,so i paint cars lol. dont get me wrong id love to own one but id rather if it is something this special have the best chance of survival(not doubting anyone on mfk's ability at all)

wow those are neat looking! i say keep a few and grow them out, might get a better return on them that way. i'm also on the hybrid train. are intermedias even found in brazil?

unless hybridzation occurs frequently in the wild, its less likely a hybrid, of course, I'll have to grow them out a little to see what they'll look like.

The salvador temensis that came in last year also appear to be undescribed, not matching anything out there...

lol. I was waiting for that response specifically, I realized that a while ago...

Also, I think you should try to get some more and try to keep 2 or 3 to your self.

yeah. unless these end up looking like the TRUE rio negro orino. but the vertical stripes is throwing me off
