That is why I say Hybrid until they are grown out more...only time will tell.
 
you keep saying hybrid :irked: ...

these are wild caught fish and the hybridization rate in the wild is not that high. It is possible to be an undescribed species or one that changes traits as it ages much like the Kelberi. I would love to see you keep these and grow them out. The return would be greater on larger specimens with a positive id :naughty:
 
I'd love to get enough to establish a breeding pair. In this manner they'd be available to everyone eventually. I hope that where ever they do end up that breeding is the goal. Dividing them amongst half a dozen people pretty much means the end for this fish in the hobby unless more are eventually collected.

And I tend to think they are not a hybrid.

you have the rio negro orino. Initially that's what I thought too, but the bars, red eyes, red tail, looks different than the Rio Negros that were imported, which those, I have a more specific location from wherre they were collected and its farther away from these.
