The question is why do you want one, and sometimes we are attracted to species or breeds because of hype. Sometimes, we have brief encounters and something about the fish matches our personality traits or inclinations so if your reason is the latter, get whatever you want dude! We all started out at some point, and personally i dig dovii's and have kept most central americans available but they aren't as outgoing as Midas, Oscars and such. As far as growth rate I've observed about the same, but it depends on how soon you can get them from birth and get them feeding regularly, and feeling comfortable in the largest space possible. Both take some time and effort to get them out of the shell and both will attack the glass when they feel the tank belongs to them...unlike C, i believe its more of a good sign than a bad one, however I agree that a full grown fish will require 300+ gals.
After you get one then you can speak from experience, just be easy on the poor fish.

these fish take time to grow out and you cant just go power feeding it because it will just die then anyways if youve not got the right conditions or tank space dont get one because the fish will suffer...
