Umbee, sorting out a male.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Crazy Joe looking crazy good!! as per usual!!! Good luck Andy, I'm sure a male will show itself soon and be a stunner just like its papa!!!!!!!!

Update. The Umbee fry are doing well. One has grown alot faster than the rest and won't let any of the others come out of hiding. From past experience this doesn't necessarily mean its a male. Sometimes in the early stages females out grow males only slowing down when they start producing spawn.
I made the decision to remove the big bully to give the others a chance. It's now in a divided tank along side a proven pair and has started to colour nicely. Looking very much male.

your fish are stunning!!!! Very nice......
I have only two (Rio Mag) Umbies left......they are in a 150gal and have a divider.......
I'm sure one is a female, she has no spots on her at all and no trailer fins....
the other umbie is only a little bit larger and has lots of spots, fairly long trailer fins and gets red in his face and head from time to time but after reading on this forum I'm still not sure it's a male.......
