peas are not really an aggressive cichlid but if another fish pickes on it it will fight back, and if we're talking about a 30+ inch tem and a 20+ inch umbee my money will alwats be on the tem, they are both powerful fish, but a tem has many advatages.

i have a 8 inch mono that DESTROYED a 6 inch flowerhorn because the FH nipped its tail.

When my tem was 19" or so a 14" or so pleco did something and I woke up and he was gone and the tem had a huge belly.

bwaha I've lost many pbass to more common less aggressive cichlids like midas. Don't make me count..

I still put my money if they're even close to the same size on umbie. Like I said pbass can be a community fish.. you will never catch a umbie in a community tank no matter how big it is.. While tems have power I don't think similarly size one could take the constant beating..

Different strokes for different folks..

sure..a community of big fish that it couldn't eat

sorry kev, nothing against you :)

i guess we'dhave to actually see it happen in order to determine what would happen

No doubt... Opinions will differ.. Just rooting for my favorite cichlid and the one that is actually more badass than a dovii... I'll source an umbie and we'll try this experiment with pats tem.. lol

Perhaps next we can argue emporer vs. tem... lol

We still gotta wait about a year or so.. Until the temensis gets 40".

I'm telling you he was what 16-17" at the most when you got him from li.. he should be 40" by next month if he's growing as fast as you say..

He was 15" when I got it from Li. I just measured him 2 days ago he was 21".

hmmm

well aside from all this sure a Pbass will eat an umbee if it was say 40" but this is about aggressiveness geez read the first post everyone.

so we all know Pbass are pus*ies and an umbee would desroy any Pbass with aggressiveness
:D

an adult tem would kill an umbie...1st if it couldnt swallow it then it would dispatch it by head butting it and killing it....adult cichla will enforce a full speed blow to a larger fishes midsection so forcefull it splits fish almost in half...and those that it doesnt damage in this way they destroy internal organs which most times death comes within minutes...it is a natural defense used by most cichla as adults during breeding and in defense of themselves against larger predators. Also keep in mind that cichla ARE cichlids and in breeding mode are just a brutal as any...mutiply that aggressiveness with the size of an adult temensis and you will change your mind.....of course all this fish vs fish is BS because who knows the circumstances ect in the wild or which fish involved may be a wuss:naughty:
ps...if you would like to donate an umbie I would surely feel confident enough to throw it into one of my tanks to test your theory ;)
