Uncle Z's 150 Gallon Setup - African Cichlids - Peacocks & Haps

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its like Xmas all over again!

You should add 1 more heater to that list, and I highly recommend attaching both heaters to a single heat controller.

Tips on those Sunsuns:
1. dunk the ends of those green hose in near boiling water for about a minute to get them really soft and supple and it'll slide onto all the connectors easily. Make sure the ends of the green hoses, that attaches to the canister connectors, are fully bottomed out before screwing on the plastic "nut".

2. fill the canister as full as you can before replacing and locking on the lid, and get water into the input hose before attaching it to the canister. That way you don't have to hand prime, which is quite a workout should you decide to go solely this route.

Good suggestion although I am going to just order some silicone lubricant that way I have it on hand when needed during maintenance.

Silicone lube is something you should have around for those o-rings. However, those heavy duty hose are much easier to slip onto those connectors using the soften-with-water method, plus once they cool off there will be just about zero chances of them accidentally slipping off.

+1

Be careful with your python--they are great at what they do, but the threading on the plastic pieces is excessively easy to strip.

Also look into the universal adapter for the python. Wont have to unscrew anything on the sink
